Plumen 002 wins Best British Sustainable Design

We are delighted to announce that our brand new light bulb design, the Plumen 002, has won Best British Sustainable Design in the ELLE Decoration British Design Awards 2014!

First we’d like to extend a big thank you to all who voted for the Plumen 002. Winners were selected by public vote so this is entirely thanks to you that we won this coveted award.

And the competition was tough! The bulb was shortlisted along side three other fantastic designs in the same category: the ‘Ripple’ dining table by Benjamin Hubert, the ‘Vamp’ Bluetooth device by Paul Cocksedge Studio, and the ‘Shake’ storage by Sebastian Cox for Benchmark.

Winning the British Design Award is a fantastic recognition of our work. After spending three years developing the product, with no guarantee of a good reception, this coveted award is pretty spectacular affirmation for everyone involved in Plumen.

It’s great to see our work and ideas noticed and appreciated. Seeing people getting excited about what we do at Plumen is a powerful drive – it makes us want to keep creating cool, beautiful energy efficient lighting!

There’s also a real pride in being British and all that means for us today. It feels like this moment in the UK is really special because collectively we’re forging a new identity and a much broader, richer remit for design’s role in culture and society. We love being a part of that.

Plumen’s Design Award win for the 002 was announced in Elle Decoration, available now in the UK, alongside all the other talented British Design Award winners. Congratulations to everyone!
